ABOUT
Born in Jamaica, Queens, to a lineage blending Haitian and Iranian heritage, Kurush operates within the "grey area"—a space of nuance where cultural identity is not fixed, but fluid and multidimensional. His practice is a continuous interrogation of context, specifically seeking to reimagine the Black and Brown subject within the elevated visual language of high fashion.
Kurush’s aesthetic is informed by a rigorous technical pedigree cultivated at the International Center of Photography and honed on the floor of Smashbox Studios. Yet, it is his background as a Teaching Assistant at Parsons’ graduate program that instilled a distinctive narrative precision in his work. By synthesizing the immersive depth of music and cinema with the fleeting immediacy of fashion, he creates images that do not merely document a subject, but grant them a new, often unseen, dimension, redefining the way in which they are witnessed.
